Union Hospital is conceived as a "garden of recovery": the main entrance and reception lobby take warm Botticino as their feature wall, creating a sense of welcome; the waiting corridors and ward passages use Silver Grey Granite for visual unity, noise reduction and wear resistance; the premium and VIP wards use book-matched Statuario walls for a sense of quality — three stone vocabularies that go beyond cleanliness to give the healing environment a human warmth.
HENGSHENG MARBLE S&T CO. LIMITED Stone supplied and installed all public-area stone: 26,000 ㎡ of walls and floors, 12,000 floor pieces, 86 wards and 32 operating-theatre preparation areas, all factory pre-assembled and numbered with five-axis CNC machining to ±0.5 mm; fully enclosed dust-proof hoarding throughout, and in 14 months the hospital never closed or reduced a single bed.
Three principal stones cover every scenario from clinical zones to human-centerd areas, unifying antimicrobial protection, slip resistance and visual calm.

Six stages from 3D scanning to dust-controlled construction — 14 months without closing, using full enclosure and zoned isolation for every noisy trade.
360° laser scanning of 32 work zones produced millimetre-level point clouds, resolving 248 structural deviations in advance.
Nano-level levelling of wall and floor substrates, with pull-off adhesion tested beyond 0.8 MPa to keep the antimicrobial coating stable long term.
Five-axis CNC machined every slab for the 86 wards and 32 operating preparation areas to ±0.5 mm, with all edges rounded to 2 mm.
Every piece wrapped individually in medical-grade dust-free film and shipped in sealed crates to the buffer zone — opened only at the point of installation.
Fully enclosed negative-pressure hoarding with HEPA filtration; workers in protective suits, so no dust escaped into operating areas.
Three spray coats of nano-silver antimicrobial coating cured into the stone itself: 99.5% bacterial inhibition, 50,000-cycle wear resistance.
Craft details up close — medical-grade stone lives in every surface patients and staff touch daily.
Ward passages use underbolt dry-hanging with three-way adjustable clamps, themselves antimicrobial-coated, so traditional metal fixings never become a contamination source.
Bush-hammered granite in the waiting corridors, R10 slip resistance UKAS-tested; wheelchairs roll smoothly, never slipping.
Ward stone joints filled with nano-silver epoxy; cured joint surfaces inhibit 99.5% of bacteria, meeting operating-theatre cleanliness standards.
Stainless-steel drains set flush into the stone floors of operating preparation areas, with a continuous 1.5° fall and antimicrobial-sealed joints for free-flowing drainage.
Ward bathroom thresholds use sloped, accessible stone kerbs with rounded arrises, rated to 200 kg — zero barrier for wheelchairs.
Every external and internal corner in the wards is rounded to R=10 mm: no right angles to collect dust, easy to clean, meeting infection-control requirements.
