Marble Furniture — Frequently Asked
The questions we are asked most often before a project starts.
Is marble furniture too heavy for the floor?
Marble is genuinely heavy. We calculate the weight from the top thickness and base type and can offer lightweight options such as hollowed bases or honeycomb composite panels, checking floor loading with the designer before work starts.
Will a marble top stain or scratch easily?
Natural marble has low absorption (around 0.10–0.28%). Once sealed before dispatch, everyday spills are unlikely to penetrate. We advise avoiding prolonged contact with acidic liquids and using heat mats.
Can you achieve a perfect bookmatch?
Yes. We cut consecutively from the same slab and number the panels following the vein direction, so reception counters and dining tops can be truly mirrored.
How long does a bespoke piece take?
Typically 3–6 weeks depending on the complexity of the form, stone availability and bookmatch requirements, counted from drawing approval.
Can one slab make the whole piece?
Yes. Dining tables, consoles and benches up to 2400mm long can usually be made from a single slab, giving continuous veining with no joint.
How should it be maintained after delivery?
Simply wipe with water or a mild neutral cleaner. A care guide is supplied, and we also offer on-site restoration and re-sealing.
